Everyone seems to be talking about this young lady. For those who live outside the UK (and Europe, I guess), Jade won a reality contest which resulted in her being the United Kingdom’s representative in the Euro-vision Song Contest. She didn’t win, but ever since the industry has been speaking about her quite a bit.

I can’t lie, before watching this video I was very sceptical, but damn – this has impressed me. I don’t love the song, but it’s definitely chart worthy. We need a real Pop-R&B singer in this country and hey, maybe Jade’s it. Will she be a massive star? Dunno.

Kano – “Rock N Roll” [Radio Rip]

Wow. Erm. I actually don’t know what to say on this. My initial thoughts: I’m not feeling it. Ant I ain’t bitching that it’s ‘auto-tune’ (which in my opinion, is never a good route to go) but generally, this track doesn’t really have much for me to sink my teeth into. It’s most certainly different, and I’m always game for artists experimenting but that don’t mean I gotta like it. Dig?

However, I’m a fan of Kano and so will remain open minded, maybe this will grow on me. And maybe the rest of his material will impress me more. My first thoughts on this however – not that impressed.

One of my favourite emcee’s returns.

KA’s brand new single “Rock N Roller” will get it’s first radio play tomorrow evening on BBC Radio 1xtra. To hear it you gots to tune into MistaJam’s show between 7pm-10pm on August 5th.

From the beginning, even through all the major label bullsh*t, this guy some how remained true to himself. Admittedly I, like many, questioned his blatant attempt at the mainstream, but equally – I wasn’t mad. It’s a hustle and there’s nothing worse than an artist who stays static and stagnant. He fully redeemed himself however, of any wrong doing, when he dropped his 140 Grime St mixtape last year. Still one of the illest mixtapes I have. It’s grimey. Love that sh*t.
