Haha that’s so cool! Weird, but cool nonetheless. It’s crazy to think what these ladies then went onto achieve. They came a long, long, long way. But even back then you could hear Bey’s vocals were something else. They sho’ looked different back then too! It also reminds me of how dope Beyonce’s voice sounds up against a real R&B track. A lot of her music is now Pop-R&B, where as joints like “She Don’t Love You” and “Get On The Bus” off DC’s The Writings on The Wall (still one of my favourite R&B albums of all time) were straight up R&B.
I posted this track a couple days back, but thought I’d re-up it with the full CDQ download. “Million Dollar Bill” is Whitney’s first (official) single off the new album I Look To You…
You know, this is growing on my slightly. I think it could be (a lot) better. The lyrics are pretty sh*t, but yea, the more I listen the more I seem to like it. The thing is, I want to like it because it’s Whitney but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t expecting a lil’ something extra from her.
Chico DeBarge has never had a problem pouring his heart and soul into an album. His Long Time, No See album dealt with his incarceration. His latest delves deep into his addiction to pain killers (a problem which began after he was hospitalized when stabbed while on tour). Watch him speak candidly on the above and much more…
The homie Melo-X came through with some serrrrrious footage of Janelle Monae (Diddy, ‘llow this chick to release something already!) and the Roots performing live.
PinBoard has been shortlisted as one of the Dazed Raw Blog Awards (sponsored by G-Star) finalists! Voting is now live!!
This is both totally unexpected and enormously flattering! I don’t actually know what to say, other than it would be really, really, really great if you could support PinBoard by voting for us to win!
You can vote HERE or by clicking the image above, please share the link with all your peoples, who like you, enjoy and appreciate dope music and generally feel what we’re doing here. As I’m sure you guys know, I run this site out of straight passion for music and because you guys keep coming back. My aim was never to get a whole heap of people to come to the site, in fact those who know me well know that I began this site because I simply wanted my mates to find what I was listening to in one place (instead of them badgering me constantly!). To see it turn into what it is today has been crazy, but I’m loving it!
ANYWAYS, it would be awesome if you could vote for us to win, and hey it would be dope if we did end up winning it. But without being too clique, just to be recognised is beyond cool. If you feel PinBoard is worthy of such an award vote AND tell your peoples to vote too! You’re always appreciated. Know that.
VOTING ENDS AUGUST 17TH!
Thank you
Speeakz
Note: When you go to vote, scroll down to finds PinBoard (there’s 15 other nominees).
We continue our open interview with Marsha Ambrosius who gave us her most frank interview yet. This second segment (make sure you’ve seen part 1 first!) focuses on mixtape releases, the 5 producers picked for her forthcoming solo LP, self-assertion, womanhood, the future and her relationship with the late Michael Jackson & the hours after he passed.
Our interview also includes exclusive live footage from her July gig at the Jazz Cafe in London, including a tear jerking rendition of “Butterflies” and a song Marsha wrote for Michael but never got to record called “Cry”.
Peace, Love & Marsha Ambrosius

Note: I have to say, a biiiiiiiig thank you to Marsha for being so cool and forthcoming. And a MASSIVE shout out to my crew – you guys surpassed yourselves with this feature. I’m extremely proud of this.
Hmmm, it’s not what I was expecting, it must be said. BUT I like it. It’s a nice track, but I guess that’s the problem, it’s just ‘nice’. It’s not great and I was expecting great! Her voice still sounds notably different, but as I’ve said many times before – I ain’t worrying too much about that.
…”I Look To You” and this track have so far been quite sub-par, not horrible – just annoyingly underwhelming. Now I’m less confident about the album.
