Two dope R&B joints by artists I’m not really fans of? Well, I’ll be damned! Here goes the remix to Amerie’s “Why R U”…
Amerie Feat Nas, Jadakiss, Cain & Rick Ross – “Why R U” [Remix]
Firstly, got some dope emcee’s on this remix. But secondly, and more importantly – Amerie is sounding real, real nice on here! This track reminds me a lot of ol’ skool Mary J Blige. Sounds really old school, no? Amerie is definitely flexing them vocals, which honestly, I didn’t think she had.
Peace, Love & Amerie

LeToya Luckett and Luda team up on this sulty R&B cut…
LeToya Luckett Feat Ludacris – “Regret”
I can’t lie, I’ve never really been on LeToya’s music, but this is hot. I’m feelin’ this in a big way. The tune is big, Luda’s verse is dope. I like everything about this tune, the beat, the lyrics, her vocals – it works. Great stuff.
Peace, Love & LeToya Luckett

What did I tell you last night about PMOI? I told you the homegirl Amelia was putting in some next level work over there, right? Well, here’s another example of what she do – she’s come through with an exclusive track from the insanely talented Eska! You don’t understand how long I’ve BEEN waiting to hear new material from this lady…
Eska – “Walking on the Moon”
This one is especially for all you Zimbos out there. I am not a confident Shona speaker let alone writer…Kutaura chiShona kunonetsa stereki??…but I delighted in saying the most ridiculous things to my Mbuya (grand mother) when she was alive. Irony does not really exist in the Shona language so you can only imagine my English sense of humour translated into ridiculous/surreal shonglish…often resulting in her laughing hysterically…which made me so warm inside.
My opening lyric, ‘Tino famba tese’ is translated, ‘We can walk together’.
And on that note…Pamberi ne Zimbabwe!
AMAZING! Just amazing. Eska’s voice is surreal, I could eaaasily listen to it all day and night. She’s just awesome. Her style, her melodies – everything. Just beautiful. I love it. Cannot wait for the album, which we’re being told should be mastered this Autumn!
Peace, Love & Eska

P.s I’m not the biggest Police fan, so understand my lack of acknowledgement – but yes, this is indeed a ‘reworking’ lol

Truth be told, I don’t know much about this joint right here. All I know is, I haven’t heard it before, therefore I can only assume it’s new. Check Missy going in a somewhat different direction…
Missy Elliott – “Rather”
I really like it! I’ve always been a fan of Missy’s voice, this has got that Tweet vibe which I love. Something different, which is never a bad thing. Obviously this isn’t the first time she’s taken on a ballad, but I think it’s dope that she’s playing around and not coming with her standard (albeit, much loved) club banger.

The tracklist for Whitney Houston’s much hyped comeback album I Look To You has just been released. I know you can’t really tell much from any tracklist, but I’m stupid excited about this entire project, so I’m quite happy just to have song names at this point. You’ll remember a couple weeks ago a buzz track entitled “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” hit the net, which will be proceeded by the albums first official single “Million Dollar Bill” (which will air Monday 24th). The album itself will drop September 1st. All good.
1. Million Dollar Bill
2. Nothin’ But Love
3. Call You Tonight
4. I Look To You
5. Like I Never Left (feat. Akon)
6. A Song For You
7. I Didn’t Know My Own Strength
8. Worth It
9. For The Lovers
10. I Got You
11. Salute

We posted the footage of them performing this track a while back, now it’s time for the CDQ leak…
The Roots – “How I Got Over”
The Roots can do no wrong in my book. One of the most legendary and criminally underrated groups in Hip Hop history. Fact. This tune, it’s already uploaded on my iPhone – nuff said.

Adam “MCA” Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. Luckily it was caught early and is localized in one area, and as such is considered very treatable. It will however require surgery and several weeks of additional treatment. Fortunately the cancer is not in a location that will affect Yauch’s vocal chords.
Beastie Boys have canceled all upcoming concert appearances to allow time for Yauch’s surgery and recovery. The release of the band’s forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 will also be pushed back.
Paraphrasing from a video statement on Beastieboys.com, Yauch said, “I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we’ll release the record and play some shows. It’s a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because i was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later.”
Sad, sad news! We wish Mr Yaunch a safe and speedy recovery! Good news, they caught it early.

“I fell in love with Prince‘s music when I first heard Purple Rain. I was 18 then, and I basically spent the next 3 yearsof my life listening exclusively to Prince and other Minneapolis funk artists’ music. Non-stop. It became a bit of an obsession to the point where I’d often have Prince, and his music, appear in my dreams. At that time, being a Prince fan made you a bit of an outcast. Everyone hated Prince in favour of Michael Jackson. This will be my personal tribute to Prince and the rest of the Minneapolis funk artists. I owe a lot to them.” – Dj Kyri,
You know where I’ll be August 7th then.
