melanie fiona

Not sure if this is an album track, or just some random leak but either way it’s a new wifey Melanie Fiona song, so just enjoy…

Melanie Fiona – “Sad Songs”

Hmmm…I can’t say I love this one. It’s not bad, not by a long shot but it’s just not one of my favourite Fiona tunes. Her voice though…Damn, it’s just so…Buttery?*. Can’t wait for the debut!

Peace, Love & Melanie Fiona

Michael Jackson’s PR company just sent over a press release (below) announcing that Kenny Ortega (HIStory Tour/Highschool Music) will direct his 50 date tour in London this year (and next). They also sent over that exclusive picture of MJ during rehearsals…!

The streets of Hollywood are buzzing; Michael Jackson mania is in full swing 5,500 miles away from The O2 arena – the home of his historic 50 concerts this summer.

Kenny Ortega, the renowned Director, Producer, Choreographer and creative talent is hard at work collaborating with Michael Jackson in the overall design and direction for the upcoming ‘This Is It’ concert shows. Ortega previously worked on Michael Jackson’s Dangerous and HIStory tours, some of the most spectacular shows ever staged.

Last week, thousands of dancers flew in from every corner of the globe including Japan, Australia, South America and Europe to audition for Jackson and Ortega – all of them were chasing their dream of winning a spot to perform on stage with their idol Michael Jackson.

Even after the selection process narrowed the competition from thousands of submissions to over five hundred top international dancers, there was still no dance space large enough in Los Angeles or New York to house the auditions. The producers ended up booking LA’s Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, part of the site where the Grammy Awards are held each year, to handle the unprecedented numbers of performers who flocked to these auditions.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this video. Being 100% serious. Ya’ll know Prince is the highest of the highs in my book. Check him performing, acoustically, some of his biggest hits (including “Sometimes It Snows in April”**), aswell as covering Chaka Khan’s “Sweet Thing”…

Crackhead Winehouse performed at the Jazz Festival in St. Lucia a couple nights ago and as expected – it was a fu*king mess. The first video is just a joke, forgetting her lyrics, wailing in the mic and all sorts. The second video, aside from seeing her narn, she walks off stage with no warning and doesn’t return.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6luRgA00gUk&feature=player_embedded]

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry4hQfv1DxA&feature=player_embedded]

I don’t understand a) why people applaud her? I got this one crackhead that’s always chillin in Angel – ain’t no one clapping and cheering him on and b) why the heck she’s still allow to perform? Where’s her people at? I know, I know they’re all motivated by money but at the same time – someone needs to tell this chick to just do nothing for a minute.

It’s amazing, some people do drugs and live forever, others who try it once or have a bad experience just drop dead. I mean, think of Heath Ledger. Crazy. Will Amy return to her former glory? I dunno and at this point, I couldn’t give two shits.

Peace, Love & Crackheads

Backed by a nine piece band (plus special guests) Daniel Merriweather will be rocking London Town properly. There’ll also be a DJ set on the night from Daniel’s producer and chum – Mr. Mark Ronson.

…I’ve had Merriweather’s album Love & War (June 1st) for a minute now and like I’ve said on multiple occasions – it’s pretty damn impressive. His voice are ridicoulous and his writing skills are just dope.

star_trek_poster-1

I can honesty say I’ve never, in my life, watched an episode of “Star Trek”.  Of course I understood the pop culture significance and knew the general gist of the show, but other than this (common) knowledge – nada, nothing. But, I’m a big fan of action blockbusters and after watching a few trailers of the new “Star Trek” movie, I was super excited to go check it out. So excited in fact that I broke my normal (standard) rule of “only go cinema on Orange Wednesdays” (Buy-1-get-1-Free n’ all) and dug deep paying the stupid regular prices (which I really think Watchdog need to investigate!)

I didn’t know much about the story of the film, all I knew was: it was directed by J.J Abrams, had “Syler” in it as Spock and that sh*t was blowing up in space. Literally, that’s all I knew. I reckon that was part of the excitement – you know when you just know a film is gonna be massive?

If I’m being honest, I really cannot think of one thing I didn’t like about this movie. Not one single thing. The cast did great (their chemistry was awesome), the story was fast paced, engaging and interesting, the special effects were immaculate and the understated (and non-patronising) references to the original “Star Trek” series were both appreciated and tastefully done. Each character got enough ‘air time’ for the audience to really understand who they are and what their essentially about. The relationship between Kirk & Spock is of course, the main focus. Their on screen relationship was both intriguing and humorous. Infact, that’s an angle of the film I never expected – it was actually quite funny (clever funny at that).Chris Pine (Kirk) & Zachary Quinto (Spock) play their roles very convincingly.

As I sit here typing this out, I’m trying to constructively think of weaknesses – but I can’t think of any. It’s rare, but it’s true.  I was never bored, never disengaged, never confused. I was entertained from the very first sequence (which was incredible may I add). The 2009 “Star Trek” movie is just superb. J.J Abrams created a brilliant adaptation of one of the TV’s most loved and famous series.

…I walked in not knowing f*ck all about “Star Trek” and walked out a bonafied Trekkie. I’m not sure if the die-hard fans will agree with me (probably not), but as a dude who loves big budget action adventure movies – I was sold. I could quite happily go back and see it again.

I have to give “Star Trek” a solid 9/10*

Peace, Love & “Star Trek”

P.s The film that will top this? Standanrdly: “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. Boi.
