This is what I was waiting for. Can’t stand those live rips/tagged versions man. Mos Def drops the CDQ version of his “Brooklyn Go Hard” featuring that now infamous Santo/Santi beat…

Mos Def – “Brooklyn Go Hard”

Who doesn’t love Mos Def, really? Even though his material over the years hasn’t reeeeeally matched up to Black on Both Sides you still can’t hate this dude! Lovin’ this version of ”Brooklyn Go Hard” too. It’s hot.

Peace, Love & Mos Def

cassie

Here goes that new Cassie. Some people say she f*cks for tracks, I couldn’t possibly comment on that. Ha. But just say, hypothetically she does, is this beat worth the trouble?

Cassie Feat Diddy – “Must Be Love”

LOL. Sorry, I set that one up to fail init? Nah, it’s actually not a bad tune – I quite like it. Cassie has never, excluding her debut single, put out anything that’s got me excited or desperate to rewind. This is another example of that. “Must Be Love” isn’t a bad track, it’s just not that special. Oh and Diddy rapping? I’ve never quite understood that. I am still waiting for that one big banger this chick needs (pun intended, I guess).

Peace, Love & Cassie

I will continue to update on this phenomenon haha!

Well, he’s gone and done it. 50 shows in London will take place in 2009 and 2010, confirming once again that Michael Jackson is the biggest pop star in the world history. I just received the latest press release which reads:

Records have tumbled:

  • The biggest audience ever to see an artist in one city.
  • The most amount of people to attend a series of arena shows.
  • The fastest ticket sales in history.

The gigs have even caused controversy amongst the UK political establishment, with a cartoon in The Sun newspaper this morning depicting Prime Minister Gordon Brown stealing Michael Jackson tickets to sell on and boost the British economy. But with fans traveling from over 200 countries to see the shows, a genuine boost to tourist industry is a reality. After all, the world has always flocked to London to see royalty, The King Of Pop is continuing in a great tradition.

Three-quarters of a million people in the UK alone have bought their tickets and fans have been camped out at The O2 Arena since last night, stopping at nothing in their quest to see Michael Jackson.

Pure madness. Man, MJ hasn’t lost his touch when it comes to breaking records. Tickets go on general sale tomorrow 7am via www.ticketmaster.co.uk although fans are advised to keep it locked on www.michaeljacksonlive.com for all the very latest information on tickets.

I pray this guy pulls through and reaffirms his rightful place in music. This could literally be, the biggest comeback in history. But likewise, could be one of the most monumental flops. Either way, if you live in London and don’t attend at least ONE of these shows – you’re officially a loser. Straight up.

Peace, Love & Michael Jackson

P.s I advise all who want tickets to wake up early and be quick!

Here goes the video to Britney’s controversial song “If U Seek Amy”…

Review in a hot second, in the meantime I think this video is heavi! Haha! I would say that, coz I think Spears is heavi! LOL Nah, but on a level – think the tune is serious and I really like the video too! She looks good man, ol’ skool Britney is back. What you think?

…Still not as a good as this video though lmao!

Wow! Is this the first time a rapper has performed on American Idol? I can’t recall any before? Well, that being said, KanYe performed “Heartless” so no rapping per-say, but still – pretty big.

…Brining to the total of shows (as I type) to 45!

Yup. He’s going for the big 5-0 I’m sure!

Michael Jackson has added January and February 2010 dates to his “This Is It” tour. This concert is looking more and more like a ‘Vegas-type-residency’ then just any old tour. This city has never seen anything like this before, it’s truly crazy! The likes of Celine Dion and Elton John go to Vegas so  they can set up shop and perform every other night for like a year or five. But, the O2? It’s an arena, with tons of other acts performing with their equally massive shows – how the heck are they gonna pull that off?

Michael Jackson doesn’t do anything by halves. We know this, but this is pretty nuts. Let’s hope he doesn’t get tired, sick or break anything – let’s not forget, he isn’t a spring chicken and even though Tina Turner is now 69 (I know, amazing right?) she, unlike, MJ is fit and in good health!

…We’ll see how this pans out. Great news for all the fans who had trouble getting tickets/are traveling abroad though. More than a million people will now have a chance to see the King of Pop perform for the last time!

Peace, Love & Michael Jackson

P.s Positively dwarfing Prince’s residency - just sayin’.

P.p.s Looks like I’m going to see this dude more than once then. Boi.

Remember that vlog Jay Smooth did with Elizabeth Mendez Berry on Rihanna and Chris Brown? Berry wrote that dope piece in VIBE magazine about domestic violence within Hip Hop entitled “Love Hurts” some years back. Well, coz that video/conversation generated so much discussion, she has written an in-depth follow-up commentary on the subject.

…I’m posting this up because a) it’s a fascinating read and b) if I can help spread this message, that is often swept under the carpets then I will and c) coz I’m a fan of great journalism. Make yourself a cuppa, grab a biscuit and read this:

Beyond Gossip, Good and Evil
Elizabeth Mendez Berry

The Bloods have a strict policy against domestic violence. That’s what a 16-year-old male affiliate proudly told me last year before a weekly “gang awareness” meeting of about fifteen teens, most of them Crips, Bloods or Latin Kings, at a high school in Castle Hill, the Bron. That week, the topic was domestic violence, and several members of the group, including the 16-year-old, said that hitting a woman was never acceptable. Others argued that there were situations where it just couldn’t be helped.

The conversation turned to an article I had written about domestic violence in the hip hop industry for Vibe. The rapper Big Pun grew up near the high school, and his devastating abuse of his wife (which started when the couple was just 16) was described in the piece. “I heard she cheated on him,” said the only young woman in the group, and others repeated some of the many rumors that swirled around Pun’s wife when she told her story (up until then she had been Soundview’s favorite widow). Several people enthusiastically launched into scenarios where it was OK to hit a woman. There were many. The bottom line: sometimes you’ve got to teach a woman a lesson if she gets out of line. It sounded like a man’s responsibility.

In the midst of the rationalizing, one usually talkative young man stood up and walked out. When he returned twenty minutes later, he quietly told the group that his aunt had recently been murdered by her abusive boyfriend. It was no longer a hypothetical conversation. The jokes stopped. Young men who were significantly invested in their inner gangsters gave them time off, and started talking about how domestic violence had affected their lives–and it had affected most of them. The young woman, who minutes before had been arguing in favor of beating females who didn’t know their place, talked about how despite the rules, male gang members beat up on female gang members. Behind her swagger, she seemed anxious.

POS and the Doomtree crew– including beatsmith Lazerbeak and turntable wizard Plain Ole Bill– loaded their gear into the Different Fur studios on a pouring San Francisco night last month for a session with the upstart yours truly (www.yourstru.ly) crew. As Plain Ole Bill got the decks set up on a way too wobbly card table, Stef kept quiet, nursing his road-addled vocal chords by double fisting white grapefruit juice and hot tea. We did our best to keep the questions from spewing from our super fan mouths while eagerly awaiting the dense spit and 808 kick of “Savion Glover,” and the polished horn stabs of “Goodbye” which we got to hear, and film for you, along with a few tiny inquiries.

[Above] is the first of 2 videos from those sessions, courtesy of your friends at yours truly

Second part should drop tomorrow sometime!

It’s funny, only this week I fiiiiinally got a chance to listen to Jamie Foxx’s new album Intuition – I’ve been meaning to since it dropped but it just got lost amoungst the music. Anyways, this track features on the album but this version features R&B songstress Teairra Mari…

Jamie Foxx Feat Tearria- “Blame It” [Remix]

I like this tune and I really like Foxx’s sophomore album! I enjoyed his debut but for some reason remained sceptical about the follow-up, but yea, after listening to it – I thought it was pretty solid. A couple tracks on there are hot – one imparticular is called “I Don’t Need It” – it’s such a big tune! I def recommend, if like me, you’ve been sleeping on this album, you check it out!

Peace, Love & Jamie Foxx
