These cats are real cool. If you haven’t yet checked out their SMASH the System mixtape which features both rare and previously released material from KanYe West, Lil’ Wayne, KiD CuDi & Jay-Z (to name a few) you really should do so before their new EP drops…

We’ve featured ¡Mayday! a lot on PinBoard and that’s because their dope! I love what these guys do and have been waiting for this EP to drop for a while now. I had no doubt that this would be ill and as I listen to it, I am reassured of this fact.
I know, I know, two big mixtapes dropping in a matter of minutes – hope you can keep up! Trust me though this is one EP you really need to download and enjoy. Highly recommended for those who like their Hip Hop with a lil’ something else…
Peace, Love & ¡Mayday!

Even if you don’t got a date, I’m your date today
Ladies all around the land in a collective “aaaaaah” haha!
Also after the jump check Keelay (of Keelay & Zaire) asking random folk on the street what to buy his most loved Keyshia Cole – it’s jokes!
Marsha Ambrosius just dropped this lil’ video which features a new song in celebration of Valentines day 2009. The song is a confessional phone conversation and is overly sexy…

You all know I’m a maaaaahooosive fan of Marsha’s. I’ve been pushing her Yours Truly mixtape since it dropped (and way before then may I add). I think this has just inspired another listen! If you don’t got it already, you really, really, reeeeally need to download it right now.

After a string of push backs Ryan Leslie’s self titled second album was released earlier this month. Many of the albums tracks had previously surfaced and a few (incredible) ”in the studio” videos had been released, giving us all a taste of what’s to come.
Unfortunately the few tracks that leaked (namely “Official Girl”, “Addiction” & “How It Was Supposed to Be”) are really the only major highlights this LP offers up. This album is good. But it’s not great. Production wise Ryan Leslie kills it. Each track is carefully crafted and brilliantly executed proving that as a producer he knows exactly what he’s doing…
Ryan Leslie – Making of “Addiction”
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ix5dicdL7c]
However, as an artist Leslie doesn’t really do much to inspire. The album is lack luster and at points bore. Songs like “I-R-I-N-A” and “Out of the Blue” do nothing to excite and are easily forgotten. The album’s theme is also very one dimensional. Women are obviously Leslie’s main musical inspiration which is fine, but as an artist you need to be able to switch it up a bit, not just stick to one constant theme.
I feel that this is a producers album, rather than an artists’ album. I find myself referencing the beats and music rather than the voice and songs. Which for a producer is great, but for an artist…not so much.
If I had to score Ryan Leslie’s album out of 10, I’d give it a 5. It’s a pleasurable listen but won’t inspire many rewinds.
Peace, Love & Ryan Leslie

Alexandra Burke’s spokeswoman has confirmed that the X-Factor winner has signed a $3.5 million (£2.4 million) US record deal!
Burke who recently celebrated her historic number one single “Hallelujah” which broke all previous records for a debut single in the UK selling over a million copies has signed with Epic Records and is flying out to the states to meet with Simon Cowell and the rest of the team who will help launch her new career.
Like Leona Lewis before her, Alexandra will be working with Simon and Clive Davis (who as you know, knows a thing or two about making superstars!).
This is amazing news. Whatever people may say about reality TV shows like the X-Factor – if they continue to churn out artists like Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke, then it’s all good. Of course, this isn’t always the case with winners, but hey – you win some, you loose some.
Peace, Love & Alexandra Burke

Last night Beyonce performed “Halo” at the NAACP Image Awards, where she also won the Outstanding Female of the Year award…

I really, really, really hate this song! LOL. Sorry, but it’s so dry man! And you all know that I’m a Beyonce fan, but this ain’t hot. Having said that, her vocals were, as always, faultless. She’s an amazing singer and well, hearing her sing the phone book would be pleasurable. So in that respect, I enjoyed it. The song…Not so much.
Peace, Love & Beyonce
