Today we all witnessed history. And man, what a sight it was.

It’s hard to put into worlds why this moment in American history meant so much to me/us over here in the UK. Because to be honest, we don’t follow or cherish our own political leaders, least of all others. And of course, we are all aware the man who sits in that office affects (positively and negatively) all our lives in the long run too…But it’s what Barack Obama represents that has really grabbed us all. A new way of thinking in politics, attainable public figures and the sense that he really is just an ordinary guy who has done extraordinary things with his life.

I am glad I got to witness this moment and am happy to be able to pass this experience onto future generations.

The 44th President of the United States of America – Barack H. Obama

Mickey Factz just passed me part 3 of Live From the Black Apple and this time PinBoard friend Theophilus London jumps on a record produced by Machine Drum called “No Sunshine”.

Theophilus London – “Live From The Black Apple x No sunshine” (Prod Machine Drum)

You know what this is man. It’s big. Mickey Factz & Theophilus London are two of my favourite artists around at the moment. This tune explains why. Props to Machine Drum on the production.

Keelay and Zaire come through with another track/video for you to enjoy…

[vimeo 2877845]

This is basically our shout to the old St. Ides commercials of the 90′s. Slo Mo of Myx Music Label’s group Fortilive on the raps. The ending of the video is a preview of our next video Alright with Me ft. Dminor and Phonte of Little Brother. The video will also feature recording artist Alycia Bellamy of the new MTV reality series “Daddy’s Girls”. “Alright With Me” the video will drop Feb. 24th the same day as the Album Ridin High. We will also be dropping our Free EP “Prelude to Drive” later this week.

I’ve been enjoyin’ what Keelay and Zaire have been putting out there for a minute now…Make sure you cop their new album (Feb 24th) and their new EP which drops end of this week.

Obama day is coming ya’ll! Man, I keep saying it, but it must be a great time to be in America right now. I’m tryin’ to soak up the excitement on this side of the Atlantic, but course it ain’t the same. Anyways, yesterday a concert was held in Obama’s honor where Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Mary J. Blige and many more celebrated the President-Elect’s success…

Beyonce – “America the Brave”

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1cVDhj2cOI&eurl=http://toyas-world.net/beyonce-usher-mary-j-blige-perform-at-hbo-pre-inaugural-concert-performances/&feature=player_embedded]

Breathtaking. Truley a goosebumps moment!

Stevie Wonder, Usher & Shakira – “Higher Ground”

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXRuKzPEGR0&eurl=http://toyas-world.net/beyonce-usher-mary-j-blige-perform-at-hbo-pre-inaugural-concert-performances/&feature=player_embedded]

I’m confused, why was Shakira singing “Higher Ground” please? Made absolutely no sense. But Stevie course, brought it.

Mary J. Blige – “Lean On Me”

Really liked Mary’s performance.

I will update this post as I find new performances.

Whitney Houston received a standing ovation when she took to the stage at the 2nd annual BET Honors Award ceremony last night. Houston was there to present honoree Tyler Perry with his award.

The event, hosted by actress Gabrielle Union, also honored Mary J Blige, Judith Jamison, Magic Johnson and Congressman James E. Clyburn.

I gotta say, Whitney looks amazing! It’s crazy to think how she looked a couple years back compared to what she look likes now. Truly remarkable. Houston is one of the most successful and celebrated female singers in history and so to see her comeback from her personal demons like this is a great thing.

If reports are to be believed Whitney will officially kick off her comeback at Clive Davis’ legendary Grammy party, where she will perform her first single. I’m hoping this is true, because last year we were told her new album was to be released December 08.

In any case, it’s great to have Whitney back!

Peace, Love & Whitney Houston

DJ Semtex sent over a phone interview he did with that KiD named CuDi. As Semtex says, 12 months ago this dude dropped his first record, 6 months ago he still had a day job, any minute now he’s gonna be signing a major deal and tomorrow he could will probably have the number one record in the UK…!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LXODNGfbt4]

CuDi deserves every success in the world. He’s a crazy talented dude and man, I can’t wait for his full album. I wonder though, does this success signal a new day for the music business? The record labels are slowly coming round to the idea that blogs are powerful tools (of (free) promotion), but yo, blogs were pushing “Day N Night” from a year or more ago! *Not to take away from CuDi’s success however, he’s worked his ass off and produced a modern classic with that joint*

Hmmm…!

Peace, Love & KiD CuDi

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Seriously, is that not the best commercial you’ve ever seen? LOL. Thank God I got Sky+ coz I had to rewind it a couple times. T-Mobile came through (I hate that damn company tho, it’s all about 02). Really surprised at how hard they came with this. Gool ol’ Liverpool St Station! Just superb.

Peace, Love & T-Mobile

NB: It did make me think though: what would I have done if I was at Liverpool Street station, in a hurry (coz I’m normally late), wearing my London (screw) face and everyone around me began dancing?? LOL. Boi. Who knows.

vinroc

Keelay (of Keelay & Zee) just shot over some new music from Vinroc off his Beats Freaks project that dropped on the 14th [available via iTunes now]

I’m STUPID late to meet some peoples, so I’ll let Keelay explain the rest:

Beat Freaks is a hodge podge of production work from the mind of Dj Vinroc. a collection of a simplistic collage of samples reinterpreted through a drum machine, Vinroc’s influences and experience can be easily seen as that of a true fan of Hip Hop. A compilation of pre released, unheard, and never released tracks, Beat Freaks is intended for the true beat aficionado who can appreciate the grit, simplicity, and beauty of Hip hop music.

Vinroc – “Beat Freak

Vinroc – “Believe”

Peace, Love & Vinroc
