…Just reminded me…
I haven’t posted anyof the dope NYC nights the crew and I had while we were out there – especially the one we spent with Ms. Jean Grae and Mr. Talib Kweli!
Yup! New York, ya’ll sure know how to throw a party, especially a Hip Hop party. Boi.

We heard Jean Grae was playing in New York while we were out there, and seen as it’s an improbability she will ever land in London to do a show, it was a no brainer – we had to go. So, the PB crew headed down to the Highline Ballroom and got prepped for a real ass Hip Hop gig.
It was surreal. Really. You know when you’re someplace, but you don’t actually feel like you’re there…but u know you are? Yea. That’s the only way I can describe it. We were in New York City, at the Highline Ballroom, watching Jean Grae, on her birthday, perform some of my favourite Hip Hop tracks? It was mental.
Anyways, as I said, it was Grae’s birthday and while the place weren’t packed – everyone had a heavi night – including the lady herself it seemed. She and her DJ wiled out! She brought out a couple special guests too including a Hip Hop violinist who played along side her (she was crazy!) and her Jazz singing mother, who after a lot of prodding, sang her daughter a song. It was a real moment.

…Then…Jean brought up her good, good friend Talib Kweli and er…they just rocked out on stage together! This maybe an everyday occurrence in NYC, but as Londoner’s we were pretty much blown away. We didn’t even spazz out, why? Coz we actually couldn’t believe what we were witnessing haha! Again, surreal is the only word that comes to mind. One of the dopest(and underrated) female rappers on stage with one of the dopest (and underrated) male rappers…at the same time?

Now, THAT’S how you do a holiday. Don’t go New York if you ain’t gon’ do it right (and let’s be real, you ain’t doing it right if you ain’t with the PB crew – sorry).
So yea, it’s a bit late, but this is just one night of 7 we spent in the Big Apple. Other nights (which I will report on later) included Q-Tip’s night over at Santos Party House and Puma’s Birthday party where we caught The Knux, Charles Hamilton and Chester French.
LOL. I told you we did it right.
Peace, Love & Jean Grae, Talib Kweli & New York City
