Solid solid list, solid solid year. 'O8 was an amazing year for the genre!
Extra honourable mentions should do to roots manuva's buff nuff lp, highly slept on.
Anything that skream, benga or the dmz crew produced. Jose James, a-trak (fools gold crew infact), GOOD music crew, tony williams "dreaming of your love" is still amazing,
Was a massive year for the us beat conductors too, I think brainfeeder UK is still a heavy condtebder for gig of the year, the LA crew, fly-lo, samiyam, glitch mob, gaslamp all coming correct…
Solid round up speakZ, so much more I could say but it's back to eating!

brilliant post. i cant believe im posting this on xmas day but i cant sleep and thought id check what pinboard was saying. As always you got me entertained and hooked up.

I agree with Erykah being album of the year shes amazing and that album is pretty damn perfect.

Let me just say a massive thank yo uto speeakz your blog is wonderful and i cant tell you how many times (a day) i check it your style is perfect, easy to digest and fun to read. you dont bitch, you dont moan or bad mouth nyone if its good you'll post it and thats what i like so many blogs bitch about everything you just seem to be having fun and if this isnt what you expected you must be mad!

i have to cosign pinboard has done its thing this year. im a massive blog follower and you guys definitely have a spot on my daily rounds. this post is big. dont really agree with the album of the year it was big but kanye killed it with 808s in my opinion. the album will go down in history as one of the great experiements of our generation. definitely think jockin' jay-z should have been included in best tracks tho that song is ill but watch hova in 2009 blueprint 3 is gonna smash it out of the water. oh and thank you for opening me up to marsha ambroius shes dope you uk'ers are killin it at the moment. happy holidays. continue.

Pinboard is the one!!!!Great post.. A perfect choice for album of the year! a great selection in all categories.. agree with most of them.
I am rather shocked that M.I.A's ‘paper planes’ has not got a mention anywhere?! i know it was off a 2007 album but as a single it was released in 2008 and was a MASSIVE tune of this year that never failed to rock a crowd. It is a great great song and I would have had it up as a contender for single/song of the year.

I think gig of the year would have to be Jay-Z at glasto. A piece of history liked that has to be acknowleged!

I will definitely be checking pinboard in 2009 for all my music hook ups.

Pinboardblog has been the one this year in my opinion since discovering your blog i havent looked back your consistent and provide only the very dopest music. you filter the crap and unlike many other blogs you dont come across as pretenious but come across like a real music lover

especially the Kanye evaluation, it’s an accurate defence when people actually try say ‘Ye is a waste-cadette… nah, he’s a fucking walking benchmark.

i see how our choices correlate favorably well, lol, excellent. i’d correct you on the number of songs or LPs that are technically 2007, not eligble for the 2008 list- but then that i’m gonna subdue the Fantasticunt within & let it slide for Xmas.
