Last night I was invited to attend the official Sugababes album launch party in central London. As with most of these soiree’s, it was all very manic, rush rush, say hello, catch up and dash out…
The crew & I arrived a tad bit late (work commitments suck!), so we missed the ‘fashion show’ but arrived just in time to grab a cold beer and socialise with some good, good friends.
Of course the lovely Sugababes were in attendance and were in and about mingling, working the crowd. It’s often overlooked how successful these young ladies actually are. The Sugababes have been going for like 10 years now?! Album after album, hit after hit – they continue to deliver the goods.
While the new album receives it’s finishing touches, I caught up with Amelle who said that the new set was a lot more “R&B/Hip Hop influenced and a lot darker than the previous. We’re really proud of what we’ve produced on this album and can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”. Sounds pretty interesting to me? My main problem with their last album was that it was a bit too pop-tastic. I prefer their edgier, more darker tracks.
As you can see I caught up with both Amelle (who btw is too hot!) and Keishia, but missed Heidi – she was def there, I just didn’t see her! Eh, two out of three ain’t bad?
The venue was crazy small and stupidly hot, so we literally said our hi’s and our bye’s and dashed for the door.
(The evening concluded at The Diner where we bumped into and were joined by some mates. Not too shabby.)
Oh and don’t forget, the Sugababes will be performing live at the MOBO Awards 2008 on October 15th @ Wembley Arena! Catch it live on BBC3 on the night. But, tickets are like £20 all in, so I say you need to buy yourself a couple and get yo’ asses down there. I sho’ am!
