Jay Smooth speaks my language.

[vodpod id=ExternalVideo.688351&w=425&h=350&fv=]

I don’t post every Ill Doctine video (although, I easily could!), but I felt this one in particular needed to be posted, shared, listened to, discussed and understood. It’s about time the whole “Hipster Rap” label is killed coz it’s pretty boring now. SO many Hip Hop fans still look down on the ‘new skool’ and for the love of God, I don’t understand why? If 50 Cent, LL Cool J & Co can continue to make their watered down ‘not even R&B-Hip Hop’ pop music and still be considered Hip Hop - why the heck are, these kids who are genuinely making great music while respecting AND honouring it’s history, being criticised? Confused.com.

Oh and one more thing:

“Surrounding yourself with certain cultural artifacts, not because you think they’re cool, but as way to signify you don’t think they’re cool, because you believe by sarcastically surrounding yourself with uncool things – you thereby bestow upon yourself a certain a sort of bizaro world, anti-matter coolness”

*Ahem*.

A new Jennifer Hudson track has surfaced and features Ludacris…

Jennifer Hudson Feat Ludacris – “Pocketbook”

I’m overly excited about Hudson’s debut effort! This tune is dope as hell! I’m glad she’s come with something like this, coz I was a bit worried she was gonna be doing only big-ballads. This Hip Hop influenced style works perfectly with her voice and above all! Is there anything this lady can’t sing?? Luda’s verse kills it! Great collabo!

Jennifer Hudson’s self titled debut is released Sept 30th!

What do YOU think of the track?

Peace, Love & Jennifer Hudson

Tonight I saw my idol live. It was all too much.

…It’s pretty late, but I feel I gotta post this up now before I freak out/forget every tiny detail about the evening.

To say Stevie Wonder was amazing would be the biggest understatement of the century. The legend went through his catalogue effortlessly, each time causing mayhem in the arena. Every single song had a history, a different memory to each in attendance. Honestly, I never thought I’d get the honour of seeing Stevie Wonder live and witnessing his love-fest of a concert was, without a doubt, one of THE best nights of my life. It was always my dream to be able to say I saw my iconic three and NOW I can – I have seen Michael Jackson, Prince AND Stevie Wonder live. How many people can actually say that? I’m done, I never HAVE to go to another gig again (of course, I will – but I never HAVE to! LOL).

We all know Stevie Wonder’s voice is the 8th Wonder of the world, but hearing him live is just a whole different experience! His range and power doesn’t translate properly until you witness him live. The O2 was PACKED OUT and as you can see from the pictures, we had front row (and centre) seats. I don’t know how I did it, but I did!

^ Stevie’s Daughter & Backing Singer!

Stevie did every hit imaginable: “Ribbon In The Sky”, “Part Time Lover”, “Living For The City”, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”, “Superstition”, “Knocks Me Off My Feet”, “Golden Lady” and my personal favourite track “As” to name but a few! The show was around 2½ hours long!!

…Perfect in every sense. Stevie Wonder. I’m a very, very happy man.

In celebration of Billboard’s 50th anniversary, they have compiled a number of definitive list’s including of the “Hot 100′s Top 100 Artists”, based on all charting titles (singles) from August 1958 through July 2008.

All of the lists are quite impressive/interesting but the one that caught my eye comes from the “Hit 100′s Top 100 Artist’s” list! Just check the top 20! I’m sure like me, you’ll be super shocked that Janet Jackson came higher up than her brother Michael Jackson and er…Mariah Carey beat BOTH of them as well as Whitney Houston!! It gets more interesting, check it out:

  1. The Beatles
  2. Madonna
  3. Elton John
  4. Elvis Presley
  5. Stevie Wonder
  6. Mariah Carey
  7. Janet Jackson
  8. Michael Jackson
  9. Whitney Houston
  10. The Rolling Stones
  11. Paul McCartney/Wings
  12. Bee Gee’s
  13. Chicago
  14. The Supremes
  15. Daryl Hall & John Oates
  16. Prince
  17. Rod Stewart
  18. Olivia Newton-John
  19. Aretha Franklin
  20. Marvin Gaye

Tell me that isn’t an interesting list! Boi!!! Like I said, I was most surprised with the Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston positions – the rest made sense really. Amazing that Madonna is number 2 though! Make sure you go check out the rest of the list!

The other lists are equally as interesting. Head over to Billboard’s official site and see for yourself. I found the “All Time Top R&B/Hip Hop Songs”, “Most No. 2 Hits Without Reaching No. 1 By Artist” & “One-Hit Wonders”

Jermaine Dupri loves his video-blogs and when they involve his lady Janet Jackson – so do we!! This time he goes behind the scenes of Janet’s opening night in Vancouver…

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqmIJ5ZVUBY]

Janet is killin’ it with this show. The reviews are in and errrrryone is LOVIN’ it! I’ve read what the critics have to say and am overly happy that Janet is seemingly back at the top where she belongs, but it’s hard to get excited about this tour because as of yet, no UK dates have been announced. How crap is that? She’s gotta bring that show over here man! Janet – fix up!

Peace, Love & Janet Jackson

We haven’t posted a ‘Classic Moment’ in a minute here at PinBoard and so I thought I’d pop one up now.

I was listening to Mobb Deep last night and remembered how much I used to rinse “Infamous” and “Hell On Earth” back in the day. I still go back to those albums on a regular, but when I tell you I used to listen to each album front to back, pretty much everyday – I ain’t exaggerating!

In light of this memory, today’s ‘Classic Moment’ comes from Mobb Deep’s 1995 “Infamous” album. Enjoy!

Truly, Classic Hip Hop.

“Undisputed” is taken off Luda’s up-coming “Theater of the Mind” album…

Ludacris Feat Floyd Mayweather – “Undisputed”

Haven’t really got much to say about this track. It’s decent enough, but nothing really new or exciting. I definitely prefer “What Them Girls Like”.

What do you think…?

Peace, Love & Ludacris
