The King of Pop turns the big 50 today! Don’t care what has happened to this man in his career or personal life, he will always be the King of Pop to me. I understand why many fail to recognise his musical accomplishments in recent years, but it’s simply undeniable that he single handedly changed the face of music – forever. Standard.
I caught MJ at Wembley back in the day during his “HIStory” tour and it still remains my all time favourite and memorable concert.

Super, dupa drummer Travis Barker and the extraordinary DJ AM have collaborated a few times in the past and have now finally released their mixtape “Fix Your Face”. I haven’t had time to listen to this entirely, but even before hearing it, I knew it would be dope as hell! Travis on drums, DJ AM on decks – what more can you want? These dudes go through some SERIOUS tunes, across many, many genres! This is some special sh*t right here.

Hmm…”Rose” could be dope, but NeYo’s falsetto is not working too hot on that jam. It’s annoying and not that great? Glad it isn’t making the album (according to the tracklist below) – I have a feeling it’s a demo.
But I’m definitely feelin’ “Fade Into The Background”. NeYo has definitely locked down his own ‘style’ – which I think is dope. So many artists these days chop and change their image/style you loose track (an obvious example: Nelly Furtado), its good that artists like NeYo are who they are.

As you’ve probably noticed, I haven’t posted much on the Demographic convention that’s been going down over in the States, even though I have been following it. Hilary and Bill Clinton did their thing by completely endorsing Barack Obama, which was not only the right move, but also a hugely important one too.
However, last night was all about Barack Obama as he finally (fiiiiinally) accepted his nomination for Presidency of the United States of America. ….

The most important speech of his poltical life, how did he do? If this man doesn’t win the general election, I truly believe no other democratic nominee will ever get into that office. This speech was historic in so many ways: What politian (in any country!) could fill a 75,000 capacity stadium? Er…most musicians can’t do that! The fact that Barack Obama delivered his acceptance speech on the 45th Anniversay of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, is one serious U-Turn! While this IS amazing, it’s important for Americans to remember this race is not about colour, but is about getting a good President into the White House.
Barack Obama is truly inspiring, even for us over here in the UK. The man is just…too much! He’s most certainly the most important and charismatic politician of our life times. He is our JFK.

So this year I didn’t go Carnival. I got mad love for the Notting Hill Carnival and have been going every year since I was like…like, born! But the truth is, this year, I had a better offer and so, took it! I was invited to the BBC 1xtra after party, but wasn’t able to make it – which actually, I was pretty gutted about, only because I knew THIS lady was gonna be there performing! Jazmin Sullivan is someone I am keeping my ears on. I think her voice is dope and her tune “Need U Bad” has been my 2008 summer soundtrack. Check the interview she did down at Notting Hill with Mr Trevor Nelson:
