I had never heard of Randy Pausch before today. After browsing a few blogs, I discovered who he was and what he did.

Randy Pausch was a professor at Carnagie Mellon and last year he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He became an Internet sensation when his last lecture hit YouTube. Since then, the hour long video has been seen by over 3.2 million people and has been featured on the Oprah show. It was also recently turned into a book.

Sadly, Randy lost his battle with cancer today. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.

…It’s clear from watching the lecture however, that Randy would not have wanted people to remember his illness or the fact that he died from cancer. It was clear he wasn’t in the business of self pitty, but would rather live every day with fun. The guy is a true inspiration, it just bugs me I’m only NOW discovering him and his work.

After emailing it to most of my friends and family, I thought I’d post here on PinBoard for you, my TinterNet fam. I never actually intended to watch the entire lecture (it is an hour!), but after hearing Pausch speak, I was mesmerized by what he was saying and how he was saying it.

Please, please, please take an hour out of your day and watch this video. I really think like me, you’ll get a lot from it. Pausch talks about life and about dreams; the dreams we all have when growing up and he reminds us how important it is to never give up or ignore those childish dreams. He speaks about the importance of living a FUN life and how it’s important to be self reflective. He does all of this while not being preachy. It’s not a “how to guild”, he’s not trying to be a guru. in fact it’s the opposite. It’s pretty much a glimpse inside this mans amazing life and from that, you learn a lot < at least I did.

I really am happy that I discovered this video today. So, thanks Randy!

Peace, Love & Randy Pausch
