So, the 2008 RISE Festival over at Finsbury Park was a great way to spend our Sunday…
The family got together, headed down, and…
^ The sun was shining [but rain nearly came!]
^ Rodney P & Crew came on and entertained. Then…
^ The UK’s Beat Boxing Champion Beardyman tore it up on stage. Doing crazy sh*t that continues to boggles my mind!
^ Then the moment I was waiting for: The Dap Kings and…
^ Sharon Jones, of course!!
These cats are too cool maaayne! The Dap Kings, rocking their slick suits, playing the heck out of those instruments and Sharon Jones KILLIN’ it with that powerhouse voice! Too many dope points!
By the end of their set, we were famished! So, we headed off to grab some grub. On our way we bumped into…
^ LMAO! Remember her? Cyaan’t remember her name, but she was on Big Brother last year? She was being interviewed by RISE TV (or something) and was CUSSIN’ off Boris Johnson (standard) and venting her anger at the decision to change the festivals name from “RISE Against Racism” to just “RISE” and a whole bunch of other [big] political issues. That’s cool and all but…
What. A. F*cking. Mess!
LMAO! Sorry. But come on! LOL She gave me too much jokes! Love her tho! True G!
After we ate, it was proving too hard to get back in. We decided to head home (which was, luckily/unluckily for us just across the road!). This meant we missed the legendary Jimmy Cliff perform! I know, it’s bull! But hey, what ya gonna do? Other members of the crew were there, so maybe they’ll contribute to the end of this post!

I was there! Jimmy Cliff was cool, lot of energy and he played some big tunes shame though cos it seemed like his set got cut off and i could definitely have done with a bit more.
Likewise Sharon Jones, i loved what she did but i would’ve killed for a bit more. She only rocked for like 20 mins compared to a full hour of weird-ass electro foolishness from CSS.
