CAN YOU IMAGINE?
Dear Lord, Johnny Depp as The Riddler? It boggles the mind…
Johnny Depp has reportedly been approached to play a villain in the next Batman movie.
The actor is wanted to portray The Riddler in the follow-up to The Dark Knight, according to studio bosses.
A source said: “Johnny would be amazing as The Riddler. The studio knew they needed someone who could match or even top the late actor Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker in the most recent film The Dark Knight, and think Johnny has the potential to do so.”
The Riddler is a manic super-villain who baffles Batman with his cryptic criminal clues
…The Riddler was played by Jim Carrey in the 1995 movie Batman Forever.
Studio bosses are also said to be keen to sign up Philip Seymour Hoffman to play The Penguin in the new movie.
They reportedly believe the Oscar-winning star would be the right choice to play the aristocratic, intelligent and terrifying villain. [Source]
Of course, it’s only a rumour, but if true, I cannot imagine how unreal it will be. Not to mention Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin? Jeeeeesus!
Peace, Love & Batman

We’re all ears for new music here @ PinBoard. That’s probably one of the main reasons we started this blog. I like hearing new artists/bands; I love hearing those who enjoy experimenting and those who do what they do well. So when Michelle over at Audible Treats sent me the press release for DOOMTREE and after I heard their joint “Game Over” I got pretty interested…
The five rappers and four producers that make up the Doomtree crew have been powering through the underground community since their inception, with critically acclaimed releases from their home-grown label, including their own False Hopes series of EPs, and the release of P.O.S.’s Ipecac Neat (named “Best Album of the Year” by The Star Tribune). Since meeting in junior high, they’ve all lived and worked together, helping to create the dynamic and tireless work ethic they have developed as a group. Over the past five years, Doomtree has gained momentum as one of the best hip-hop collectives in the Midwest.
The self-titled album, DOOMTREE, is a landmark for the group and a self-proclaimed beast. With 21 tracks, not only does the record build the momentum of the crew, but it also highlights their talents as solo artists. As Doomtree says, “The anthems are victorious, the storysongs are full of dream and intrigue, and the bangers reset pacemakers.”
I think it’s cool?! The beat is definitely hot and I like their style a lot.
…What you thinkin?
If you like what you’ve heard/seen/read, then head over to their Myspace and/or their Official Site and show them some love.
Peace, Love & DOOMTREE

I’m a sucka for anything Disney. If you ain’t, you have no soul. Today I watched The Lion King for the first time in about 10 years and now I’m eyeing up Aladdin! Good times.
Anyways, Disney just released this mini-trailer for their new musical movie “Princess & The Frog”. The film is set in New Orleans in the 1920’s and marks the first time the company has used a black princess. The film looks hella cute and funny. It’s about time Disney made one of their classic cartoon/musical features. I love the Pixar/CGI stuff, but this type of classic style is…classic!
LOL That bug is genius. And yet again, Disney has created another hot princess!
Peace, Love & Disney

Remember when Mickey held that competition for peeps to send in their ideas/concepts of what his next leaks should be about? Well, Mickey Factz has some pretty dope fans coz they came up with some pretty cool ideas. Here are the winning two…
From Kyle Connaro:
Tell the story from the point of view of a record (Vinyl) trying to get love in the huge era of CD’s (90’s) and how difficult it is for you to do so and the struggles of being quality but overlooked. Then transition to the same concept with CD’s and mp3s and downloads…
From Ricardo Santiago:
I would like the next concept to be …. You as a dollar bill and what goes on as you pass hands… From drug dealers all the way to the big dogs in congress. Just an Idea…
Mickey Factz – “Going No Where” (Produced By Precize)
Both concepts on one track. Dope ass concepts and what Mickey Factz does with them is beyond anything I could have thought of. This dudes talents seem to have no limits < Real talk.
Update: Factz also sent over the “Incredible” instrumenal, you know, the one that everyone, except Lil’ Wayne (”hint, hint” says Mickey!) has jumped on. I say we get some UK MC’s on it ASAP!

I posted this for JOKES purposes only. How waste? Seriously? If this dude thinks he can ‘comeback’ with a tune like this, he must be on crack? What happened to the big Dru Hill comeback anyways? I think he has more of a chance with them then he does on his J’s. Waste.

I can’t tell you how much I love this lady. We featured her waaaaaaaaay back when and have been waiting impatiently for some new material. Well, the wait is (kinda) over, here are two bonus tracks that will be appearing on her “Metropolis-Suite I: The Chase” EP which is set for a August 18th release. Check this out!
Janelle Monáe – “Mr President”
Good Lord! Her voice? Janelle covering Nat King Cole’s “Smile” is quite simply put, breathe taking. Her voice on that tune is almost haunting! Crazy talented. “Mr President” is fly as hell too! I think Janelle Monáe could sing the phone book and come off with Grammy worthy music! LOL! She’s too much! Can’t wait to see what the future has to hold for her!

Filed under: Features, Jokes, Music, Must Read, Random, Reviews, Spotlight | Tags: Album, Da Real World, Hip Hop, Missy Elliott

‘Spotlight’ is a new section to PinBoard where we will be speaking on particular things (tunes/albums/movies/tv shows/books etc) that we really love, or that have been forgotten over the years. It’s gonna be pretty sporadic, but should be cool!
Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott has been a defining figure in Hip Hop/R&B music since the early 1990’s. Her innovative style, combined with the undeniable chemistry with long-time collaborator Timbaland made her an unstoppable force.
Her debut album “Supa Dupa Fly” was one of the biggest albums of that year and caught many people off guard. At that time, no one had ever heard anything like it. When she dropped “The Rain [Supa Dupa Fly]“, using that unforgettable Ann Peebles sample, people (myself included) flipped out. Then the video dropped! Do you remember seeing the Hype Williams produced video for that joint? It was BANANA’S! They sure don’t make videos like that anymore!
Songs like “All In My Grill”, “Get Your Freak On” and “Work It” soon followed, but for me, Missy’s musical peak came with the release of “Da Real World”. In my opinion one of the best albums she’s ever produced. Of course “Supa Dupa Fly” is now classic (seriously, revisit that album. It’s often forgotten how dope and revolutionary it was!) but “Da Real World” blew my mind. Tune for tune, beat for beat that album kicked ASS! I never skip a tune and I’ve revisited it an uncountable amount of times since it’s release in 1999.
Joints like “Hot Boyz”, “Beat Biters”, “You Don’t Know” & the formidable “She’s a Bitch” (and it’s unbelievably dope accompanying video!) make this album (along with her debut) the most solid and consistent LP she’s ever produced. What’s also great about “Da Real World” is that Missy flexes her vocal ability a lot more than on any other album and we all know her voice is crazy!
“She’s a Bitch”
After this album she dropped “Miss…E: So Addictive”, “Under Construction”, “This Is Not a Test” & “The Cookbook” – all delivering great singles (”Get Your Freak On”, “Work It”, “Pass That Dutch” & ”Loose Control”) but none were solid, front to back albums. I kinda feel after a certain point Missy stopped being innovative, stopped pushing the boundaries and became very stagnant. None of the albums following “Da Real World” really excited me. Don’t get me wrong, on each album there were great tunes, but as a whole, as full long players, none really stepped up and stood out.
So, this post is really a mini-homage to what I believe to be, Missy Elliott’s greatest solo effort. “Da Real World” was a dope, beat driven album, where Missy not only took her talents to it’s heights but also collaborated with some seriously cool artists including MC Solaar, Big Boi, Beyonce, Aaliyah, Method Man & Eminem. It also marked a creative peak for the Missy/Timbo combo. Timbaland handled his bizness on this album!
If you don’t have this album already, you must, must get it ASAP! If you DO have it, I say get it out, dust it off and pump it – you’ll be surprised at how great it is! I always love revisiting old albums and remembering how great they really were/are.
Peace, Love & Missy ‘Misderminor’ Elliott

Are you a Janet Jackson fan? To be honest, that question is irrelevant to this post (even though it involves her). This video is a few years old and I’ve pretty much shown it to everyone I know (both male and female) and they’ve all pretty much lost their minds while watching (both male and female).
The reason? Just watch…
I have nothing further to say.
