I Don't Hate It…[LOL!]0

Ok, so like the rest of the world, I decided to “cop” the new Lil’ Wayne album. It’s setting the TinterNet a flame and is probably one of this years most anticipated albums [after Nas' of course!]. Now, it’s no secret that I’m not the biggest Weezy fan, but ya know, I decided to listen with an open mind anyway.
Aaaaaaaaaand….
I really don’t hate it. But I’m not sure if that’s more to do with the flawless production OR whether or not it’s actually a good album? It’s faaaar from being my favourite album and in fact, I doubt I’ll go back to it that often, but from front to back, it’s a pretty cool listen. It’s a bumper for sure…
In terms of content, Lil’ Wayne doesn’t offer too much in diversity, but then that’s to expected really. I still say this dude is far from being “The Best Rapper Alive” – I don’t care how many times I hear it, I ain’t listening…
After having a conversation with a young’an in the family, I came to the understanding that this is new Hip Hop, with a whole new generation listening and to many, this IS their “Illmatic”, their “Reasonable Doubt” etc [to me, there's nothing more depressing, but hey!] and so I guess I gotta stop comparing and move on…Right?
Hmmm? In my opinion, it’s far from a classic, but again – I Don’t Hate It! Highlights include “Mr Carter” [Feat Jay-Z], “Shoot Me Down” & “Tie My Hands” [Feat Robin Thicke]…
Speak on this people! I’m sure you got your opinions on Weezy and “Tha Carter III”.
Peace, Love & Weezy
