The Roots -”Rising Down“

As per usual The Roots bring it hard on this LP. We can’t really say much that hasn’t already been said about this legendary Hip Hop group before, but we will say: If you love Hip Hop you need to SUPPORT this group and purchase their album(s). If you’re a fan, you will not be disappointed and if you’re not a fan…you won’t be disappointed (lol!).

Madonna – “Hard Candy“

As reported earlier today, “Hard Candy” has jumped straight into the Number 1 spot in about a billion countries and is naturally doing big things. We’re not sure what the critics are saying about Madonna’s latest Hip Hop flavoured album but we think its heavi. We haven’t stopped listening to it. It’s no secret Madonna is a genius when it comes to adaption/reinvention and with Timbaland and The Neptunes on production, she manages to sound authentic, rather than corny on this LP.

Santogold – “Santogold”

We’ll admit it, we were extremely hesitant of this chick. Probably because we were afraid that Santogold’s debut would sound too much like M.I.A (whom we’re not the biggest fans of!). But on listening to it, we realised this lady is doing her own thing – totally. It’s a fun, electro filled, throwback-to-the-80′s type sound, which on a sunny day and the right mood, could serve as the perfect soundtrack. She’s got some BIG tunes/beats on this set. The album is DOPE.
