Eric Benét - “You’re The Only One”
Eric Benét’s music career has been overlooked for many years now, esp after the whole “I married and cheated on Halle Berry” situation [IDIOT!]! But the truth is, Benét released one of the best [and most underrated] soul albums in recent times when he delivered “A Day In The Life” (how many of you know about that album??). It was SERIOUS! Tunes like “Loving Your Best Friend”, “When You Think Of Me” and “Why You Follow Me” are just a few of the amazingly good tracks he has on that set.
Fast forward to 2008, a new album “Love & Life” set to be dropped in September and this new tune. We’re kinda feeling it! It’s not the best he’s ever done, but it’s most certainly better than anything he did on his last album “Hurricane” which was pretty wack! So, we’re just hoping he returns with his A-Game on this new album coz his voice is big!
Ladies, try and put the man who cheated on yo’ home gurl Halle to one side and listen to the mans music!

I was with this review until one statement was made. I cannot agree that Benet's album entitled "Hurricane" was "wack", because I feel the song selections reveal his maturity in spite of his personal setbacks. Whether it actually addresses his private life can only be speculated, however it seems that there has been a reassessment of which values matter and contribute to healthy relationships. The music finely compliments and upholds each song's lyrical expression. I look forward to his album entitled "Love & Life"… I pray its solidity will be be just as evident :^)
