While chillin’ with the PinBoard crew in Islington, the topic of our childhoods came up and how it seems, these days, there aren’t many movies made/aimed at young audiences like there were in the 1980’s. The list of 80’s teen films goes on and on (“Lost Boys”, “Teen Witch”, “Licence To Drive”, “The Goonies” etc) and while everybody’s “list” is different, the point is, there was at one point an abundance of movies made for teenagers/young people.

Anyways, this got us onto the topic of our favourite 80’s movies and well, this is probably one of my all time favourite movies (NO joke!). It’s terrible, but brilliant. I lived and breathed this movie! Just ask the family how many times they had to endure watching this film and you’ll get an idea of how my times it was repeatedly watched – back to back!

He-Man! Tell me you didn’t like He-Man growing up?!?! The cartoon was probably THE best cartoon (not forgetting “Thunder Cats” of course!). But He-Man was the man to be. And yes, it’s undeniable, the TOYS were also the best in the 80’s! Who had the He-Man sword? Or the Skeletor mask? Yeeeeaaaaa! LOL. “Masters Of The Universe” was a film adaption of He-Man and well…it’s just amazing!

In terms of effects, script etc, the film is awful and yes, it is full of 80’s ‘John Claude Van-Dam’ type cheese BUT it’s like I said, probably one of my favourite movies of all time. It’s f***ing genius. It even features a very, very, very young Courtney Cox (yes, she was hot back then too!). If you know this movie from a kid, you know exactly what i’m ranting about and if you don’t – consider yourself CHEATED! Yes. Cheated!
